This site utilizes “Active Content” components to aid in navigating to additional information. In this age of internet security, many programs such as Windows XP Service Pack 2, have disabled Active Content by default because a few loser computer geeks with nothing better to do with their time, have figured out a way to create sites that utilize this normally helpful feature to implant malicious code that could exploit a computer.

The Active Content components on this site simply allow visitors to activate small “Pop-Up” windows that further explain subjects that they would like to have more information about. For instance, on the Golf page, you can click on the name of any of the courses listed and a small window will appear that gives a description of the golf course and its statistical information. If you would like to get the full benefit of the features of this site, you will need to either temporarily activate these controls each time you encounter an item that utilizes the Active Content component feature or you may wish to “permanently” allow the use of Active Content so that you don’t have to keep clicking on “Warning” messages to see the information that you seek.

To Temporarily Allow Active Content:

If your browser’s settings are configured to warn you about Active Content, you will see the following message appear when you click on an Active Content component:

To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options ...

This is a “safeguard” installed with Windows XP Service Pack 2 that can be disabled temporarily. To temporarily allow Active Content so that you may see more information about a subject, simply click on that information bar and then click Allow Blocked Content ... When asked, Are you sure you want to let this file run active content? click Yes. These actions will have to be repeated every time you encounter something that you want more information about, however. If you don’t want to keep clicking on the “Warning” messages, you can permanently allow the Active Content components with a few easy steps.

To “Permanently” Allow Active Content:

To permanently allow Active Content to display on your computer, follow these simple steps. If you are ultra paranoid about your internet security, these steps can be quickly reversed after you have finished viewing this site. If you have a decent antivirus program, you shouldn’t ever have to worry about displaying Active Content - no matter whose site you are viewing. All of my computers at home allow active content and I have never gotten a virus.

At the top of your browser window, click on Tools. At the bottom of the drop-down box that appears, select Internet Options. At the top of the next box that appears, you will see a row of tabs. Click the one all the way to the right that is labeled Advanced. Scroll down until you see the “Security” settings and click on the box labeled Allow active content to run in files on My Computer. A “check mark” will now appear in that box. At the bottom right corner of the box, click Apply and then click Okay and you’re done!
