Most rental car companies require that all drivers be a minimum of twenty-one years of age in order to rent a vehicle from them. Hertz Rent A Car requires all of their drivers to be at least twenty-five years of age. Some smaller, local companies; on the other hand, may rent to drivers as young as eighteen years old.
If you are under the age of twenty-five; however, you can expect to pay more for the privilege of driving a rental car. The average cost for “underage” drivers is $20.00 per day, per driver plus any Additional Driver fees which may be applicable.
