 American Adventure Pavilion
The American Adventure pavilion is without a doubt (in my patriotically biased opinion) the best pavilion in all of The World Showcase. No, The American Adventure pavilion doesn’t have a world class restaurant and its shopping opportunities are scant, at best. What it does provide; however, is the most moving Audio-animatronics show that EPCOT Center visitors will ever see. Oddly, The American Adventure is the only pavilion at The World Showcase that isn’t named after a country but, instead, is called the same thing as its featured attraction.
Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain are your Audio-animatronic hosts at The American Adventure. This 30 minute show tells the story of the United States from the first pilgrims landing at Plymouth Rock through World Wars I and II, culminating with images of people and events of recent times. Film clips shown on a 72-foot screen are the backdrop for 35 different Audio-animatronic figures that depict scenes including the pilgrims on the Mayflower, the Boston Tea Party, the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the grueling hardships experienced by the foot soldiers during the Revolutionary War. The meticulous attention to detail evident in The American Adventure show is simply unsurpassed and patriotic Americans are frequently seen leaving the theater with a tear or two in their eyes.
There is no sit down restaurant at the American Adventure pavilion. The Liberty Inn is a counter service restaurant that offers uninspired American junk food staples (i.e. burgers, fries and hot dogs) and those needing a sugar fix can find funnel cakes at a kiosk just outside of the American Adventure pavilion.
At Heritage Manor Gifts, you can purchase a variety of handcrafted items, glassware and historically costumed dolls and there is a Pin Cart outside of The American Adventure pavilion that offers a plethora of collectible pins for those Orlando visitors with “pin trading fever.”
Pictures of any of the entertainment groups offered at The American Adventure pavilion are excellent additions to any Orlando vacation photo album! Be sure to arrive early enough to experience The Voices of Liberty, an a cappella group donning colonial costumes that performs a variety of American patriotic songs. Also appearing is American Vibe, a nearly a cappella act that features a standup bass player and voice percussionists, performing more contemporary songs. Outside of the American Adventure pavilion, The Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corps can frequently be spotted as they play music from the colonial period.
