- Walt Disney

SoarinSoarin’:
Originally rolled out in California’s Disneyland theme park, Soarin’, the newest ride at EPCOT Center’s The Land pavilion, made it’s way across the continent and opened at the Orlando vacation theme park in May of 2005. Like all new attractions, the well-deserved hype surrounding it has caused Soarin’ to develop perhaps the longest lines at EPCOT Center. Fortunately, a FastPass is available for this ride and should definitely be taken advantage of (unless you don’t have anything better to do during your Orlando vacation than hang around The Land pavilion in a two-hour line, that is). I strongly recommend getting your pass immediately upon entering the park because the Fastpasses do run out for this attraction. “Simulator” is too simplistic a word to employ in describing this attraction. Although it is a ride that is choreographed to move with the film that is being played, riders are lifted forty feet into the air and actually placed inside of the movie screen that displays many of the spectacular sights that the State of California has to offer. A real sensory experience, visitors to this popular attraction at The Land pavilion are treated to the feel of the ocean breeze and the smell of orange groves and pine trees as they experience what it is like to be a hang glider pilot, soaring over some of this nation’s most spectacular sights. The Golden Gate Bridge, Napa Valley, Yosemite National Park and the Giant Redwood Forests are just some of the stunni
ng sights that will leave you breathless in this not-to-be-missed adventure. See ... there is nothing like an Orlando vacation ... you can even experience the State of California from here!

The Circle Of LifeThe Circle Of Life:
The Lion King favorites, Pumbaa, Timon and Simba star in this family friendly film that focusses on the harm that can be done if we don’t cherish the natural resources that the land provides. Simba shows them the error of their ways when Pumbaa and Timon begin cutting down trees and damming up rivers while building the “Hakuna Matata Vacation Resort.” This cute, twenty-minute movie at The Land pavilion combines animation with real film footage that was shot in over thirty countries. The film explains things in a way that is easy to understand and enjoyable to guests of all ages.

Living With The LandLiving With The Land:
Climb aboard this gentle fourteen-minute boat ride that meanders through tropical rain forests, desert sandstorms and prairie biomes that were present before man ever walked the earth. Riders explore the past and witness the present and future plans for farming the land including Hydroponics, Aeroponics and Aquaculture. Vegetation is not the only thing this ride focusses on, as visitors to this attraction at The Land pavilion are taken through the Aquacell where fish, alligators, and eels are among the living creatures being “harvested.”

Did You Know?

  • Mobile in The Land PavilionMany of the vegetables that are served in EPCOT Center’s restaurants are actually grown in the “Production Greenhouse” that Orlando vacationers visit during the Living With The Land ride.

  • Look at the ceiling as you enter The Land pavilion and you will see five balloons hanging. The four outer balloons represent the four seasons and the center one depicts the earth. There are clouds and a lightning bolt under the earth balloon and when it rains, water drips down from the earth to the fountain below and is recycled throughout The Land pavilion.

  • All of Fantasyland at The Magic Kingdom could be fit inside of The Land pavilion.
