At Mission Space, Disney offers visitors to EPCOT Center the one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience a simulated space mission. Brace yourself for the adrenaline rush of a pulse pounding liftoff on your way to Mars and marvel at the weightlessness of zero gravity as you float through the solar system on Mission Space.
At Mission Space, each rider will have a role to play as either the pilot, engineer, navigator or commander. Plenty of twists and turns abound with unexpected surprises that will challenge you and the rest of the crew. The success of the mission depends on how you and the three other astronauts in your spacecraft perform and react to these challenges.
The ride ends when you successfully land on “the red planet.” From there, your post-ride experiences at Mission Space begin. Expedition Mars is a four minute video game where you must find four other astronauts on the surface of Mars. Space Base is a fun play area with a space theme for children and is an excellent place for an Orlando vacation photograph of your little astronauts. Postcards from Space allows guests to send short, space-themed videos home as a perfect souvenir of their visit to Mission Space.
Finally, you need to get back home to the planet Earth. Space Race is a two team competition to see who can get from Mars to Earth the fastest. Nearly sixty people can play this action-packed game at the same time.
Mission Space is a FastPass attraction and it is highly recommended that you obtain your pass early in the day; before they run out, in order to significantly reduce your wait time in line for this highly popular attraction. Although the ride portion of Mission Space is fairly short, you should allot approximately one hour to experience Mission Space in its entirety.
WARNING: If you would like to experience Mission Space during your Orlando vacation, you must be at least 44 inches tall. For safety you should be in good health, and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that can be aggravated by this adventure.

Did You Know?
- The lunar rover that hangs from the ceiling in the “Simulation Lab” at Mission Space is an actual vehicle on loan from the Smithsonian Institute. It is the only lunar rover built by NASA that was not left on the moon.
- Actor Gary Sinise is the CapCom that guides guests o
n their Mission Space adventure.
- Trevor Rabin; best known as a former singer/guitarist in the band Yes, composed the music for the Mission Space attraction.
- Previous visitors to EPCOT Center know that the Mission Space attraction replaced the former attraction housed in this pavilion - Horizons. What they may not have noticed is that if they look closely at the “Gravity Wheel” on their way to the ride, they will see the former attraction’s Horizons logo on the hub of the wheel.
- A great deal of the technology utilized in the Mission Space ride had to be invented specifically for the attraction. It took 650 Walt Disney “Imagineers” over 350,000 hours (roughly 40 years of combined time) to develop this attraction over a five year period of time.
