Rafiki’s Planet Watch: Although the only way to get to this highly interesting and educational area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is through the Africa section of the the theme park via the Wildlife Express train, it is its own section of the Orlando vacation theme park and; therefore, warrants its own page.
There are really three parts to this part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. At Habitat Habit, you will find a variety of interactive exhibits for the young and not so young that are designed to increase awareness in the need to preserve our planet’s natural resources and to interact with the environment in a more animal-friendly manner.
At Conservation Station, Orlando vacationers will get a unique opportunity to see how the various inhabitants of Disney’s Animal Kingdom are cared for. There are special viewing areas that have been set up where you may view various medical exams and surgical procedures as they are performed. In addition, park guests can observe food preparation and the feeding of various animals. There are also “Live Animal Cams” where animals can be observed behind the scenes. Note: Those mainly interested in seeing the veterinary practices should plan on heading to this area first thing in the morning, since most of the medical procedures that are performed are done so between the hours of 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
Though it may initially seem like your ordinary, run-of-the-mill petting zoo, Affection Section is a place where you will have the opportunity to interact with exotic breeds of pigs, deer, goats and other friendly creatures not commonly found in this country and is a great spot to get a cuddly Orlando vacation photograph!
